STMicroelectronics is leading the machine vision market with new groundbreaking global shutter image sensor technology. Global shutter sensors have historically been the image sensor of choice for machine vision applications due to their ability to clearly capturing motion. However, older technology tradeoffs in image quality, like pixel cross-talk and poor sensitivity, prevented many applications from achieving higher levels of system performance. With ST’s new 3D stacked, back-side illuminated global shutter sensor (BSI-GS) technology, we offer the benefit of sharp images with higher sensitivity and new features that improve system performance in machine vision applications or face identification systems.

MEMS sensor innovation and technology has taken us to the point where we can detect all manner of ambient energy with the tiniest of devices, and employ the data in useful, if not critical, applications that help us perceive more, perform better, and stay safer. While there is enormous scope for increasingly sophisticated use of combined sensor data, there are serious latency, bandwidth, and security challenges emerging across all personal electronics, industrial, and automotive markets in relation to the transfer of such large quantities of data to and from centralized systems and cloud servers.
Real-time, low-power, local, and edge data-processing capabilities are among the most viable and sustainable routes forward, and ST is shaping its technology and MEMS sensor product portfolio in pursuit of stringent power management targets in combination with exciting developments in learning hardware and artificial intelligence engines.
This session will focus on Industry 4.0 Industrial applications such as vibration sensing, inclination as well as other condition-based monitoring and predictive maintenance applications, while utilizing the latest in multi-featured platforms for developing industrial applications—the SensorTile Wireless Industrial Node (STWIN) and associated software ecosystem.

In today’s world, Bluetooth enabled IoT applications are becoming more demanding not only in terms of range capabilities, but the amount of data that is being advertised, especially in beacon applications. Another big factor in these types of applications is power consumption–designers are always looking for ways to lower power budget without sacrificing performance, in order to extend the battery life of their applications.
ST's BlueNRG-LP is the newest Bluetooth Low Energy 5.2 certified SoC in our BlueNRG family of devices featuring ultra-low power consumption and best-in-class radio performance, while supporting key features such as LE Power Control, enabling designers to reduce power consumption in a connection even further, extending battery life in their application and ensuring a robust communication link.
In this session we will be reviewing the BlueNRG-LP’s key features with special focus on the LE Power Control, describing the theory behind it and how it helps achieve a more robust connection link while also increasing battery life.
